It's that time of the year again when Ford drops the curtains on a new Harley-Davidson edition of its F-150 full-size pickup truck. The big news for the 2011 model year version is that it receives the same 6.2-liter V8 powerhouse found on the 2010 F-150 SVT Raptor making it the most powerful F-150 Harley-Davidson to date.
The new 6.2-liter V8 engine pumps out a hefty 411 horsepower and 434 lb.-ft. of torque, providing an improved maximum trailer towing capacity of 9,300 pounds. The gasoline unit is hooked up to a regular six-speed automatic transmission as standard with manual gearshift functionality available as an option.
"This engine has tons of torque and already has been proven in the field with both the F-150 SVT Raptor and Super Duty," said Mike Harrison, Ford's V8 engine program manager. "The exhaust for the Ford Harley-Davidson edition has been specially tuned to feature a throaty V8 rumble customers will love."
Like its predecessor, the latest F-150 Harley Davidson edition comes with bespoke exterior and interior styling cues and improved packaging. Available only in Tuxedo Black and Ingot Silver paint jobs, the 2011 HD features a unique six-bar-shaped billet-style satin chrome grille and dark headlamps plus special graphics on the hood and body side.
The 22-inch Euroflange forged wheels with a polished center wheel cap and low-profile performance tires, and the fully integrated deployable running board round off the exterior treatment.
Inside, you'll find black leather seats adorned in Harley Davdison 'cloisonné' badges. In addition, the trim panels are covered in Tuxedo Black paint, while the door scuff plate and console lid receive an engine-turned finis.
Equipment upgrades include a standard voice-activated Navigation System with an 8-inch touch screen, a power moonroof, a rear view camera, second-row heated seats, special ambient lighting and a remote start system.
The new 2011 F-150 HD will arrive in Ford showrooms this winter with prices to be released closer to the launch date.
